History of the Casper Family YMCA

For over 52 years, the Casper Family YMCA has been providing social and educational opportunities for people from all social classes and backgrounds and has always had the foresight to fulfill the social needs of our community. Like no other organization, the YMCA has the expertise, programs, and resources to change the future of our city. Since the original building was built in 1962, the YMCA has strengthened the fabric of our community by focusing on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

1962

The first building was constructed at 315 E 15th St. It included a heated, filtered indoor pool, dressing and shower rooms, offices and exercise rooms.

1967

Locker rooms and a health club were added to accommodate a rapidly growing demand.

1972

Two official, four-wall handball courts were donated by the Casper Handball Association

1976

A 6,000 sq. ft. regulation gym, a racquetball court, and a running track were added.
